I'm having trouble with the output on my Kingbass (new to Status) which is distorting.

I thought it was originally just when the bass and treble boosts were up full but I've tried it on all settings and still there's a problem. I've changed batteries several times but no fix (Duracels).

It seems to be more apparent when I play finger style as opposed to slap (?)

Any ideas that I can fix myself before I take the trip to RG?

I had this problem.... you have to adjust the output gain control inside the bass... on the circuit board... if you look at the instruction sheet that came with the bass it tells you how to do this....

I don't think I have one (bought S/H).

Has anyone got a copy they could fax or email?

I did contact Status but they wanted to know the serial number to what circuitboard had been used.

Looks like I have the earlier 300 board as there was no blue potentiometer on the board.

Any other ideas on the fix?

Really.... thats very odd..... Have you changed the batteries to new ones of the4 same type....

I will admit that when I got my Kingbass the output is really high... even after backing of the output gain on the 301 board... I still had to roll off the volume on the bass..... and be really careful about the input gain on my Trace SMXgp12 head..... Definitely change the batteries as these can have a dramatic effect.....

Also check your cables as this is always the weakest link in any set up...

I've replaced the batteries twice with duracels.

I opened up the back last night but I've got a 300 board so the gain was pre-set when built. (Bugger)

I've played around with the input gain on the amp but no luck.

I haven't tried another cable yet (good idea) but I did try another bass with the same set-up and no problems. The other bass has a much higher output than the Kingbass.
