I was actually thinking about mounting a kind of small loop (e.g. from old E string?) onto the "head" string retainer (?). I usually don't use the screws, but double ball strings.

But this would require some funny modification of the bass and wall mounting was not really necessary...

very crudely you could use 2 normal wall mounted brackets and just have the bass resting on the bottom one... Just wondering if there's a better solution out there!?!

You can get the sideways mounts that you find in guitar shops from quicklock.

http://www.quiklok.com/catalog/?p=p_4&...lay-Stands

some examples here.

I have your answer. Several years ago the Steinberger Group had repro wall mounts for headless Steinbergers made and offered them to their members. I bought 3(I think, I'll check the box when I get home) and never used them. They are about 4"wide X 24" tall, made from clear lexan and the neck slides through an opening in the 90 degree top while the bottom of the body cradles in a "J" type channel. They simply screw to the wall. These are exact copies of what Steinberger offered to dealers to wall display their inventory. Interested? If so email me @ lbemp19@aol.com Ken/NY

Any chance you could paste the details here as I don't want to have to do anything with the Yahoo sites.

Thanks buddy

Unfortunately I don't know how to do that, I can barely turn this thing on. The link is clean and right to the pic of the stand. I tried it twice and there are no issues.

Andy Yacubic, the founder and moderator of www.steinbergerworld.com , had these wall mounts made for sale to the Steinberger Group. He's a genuinely nice guy and if there was enough interest in Statii I'm sure he'd accommodate you have have some made. There was only one batch made for the Steinberger Group and all were pre-sold, no more were made and I have no idea of what the minimum might be. Ken

Did I get this right: The bass is basically standing on the tuners, then? I guess Status basses are a bit heavier than the most common Steinberger's?

If you look at the base of the wall hanger you can just make out two clear silicone "nipples" that are glued to the lexan. These are actually spaced wider than the bridges on the Steinbergers and allow the instrument to rest on the body, not on the tuners. As for weight...... all of my Steinberger basses (7, both XM&XL's) are much heavier than my '96 Status Eclipse Custom Shop Ltd. Ed and my early Series 2000 (#006) is a featherweight compared to the Steinbergers.
