I just spoke to the german distributor guy of Status, I will order a king this week.
Does anybody have any experience with the available rosewood phenolic fretboards?

My only experience is in my recent S2 order.

They are nearly as hard as the regular phenolic boards but are made of laminated wood with the same phenolic resin.

These are the options Rob sent me at the time.

Believe the option is currently at EUR 160 but you had better confirm with Rob or Dawn at the factory. The latest Euro price list is available here

I'm not sure if you mean that this is phenolic board that looks like wood, or wood used with phenolic resin as hardener like i.e. epoxy coating?

it's actually laminated wood with a phenolic resin coating from what I understood from Rob; mind you I am not such a handyman ;)

Does it make the bass sound more like with a wooden fretboard or is it only an optical effect? I'm just about to order a king bass and I am thinking about that..!

Good question! I would not think so because the top is still phenolic resin just like the pure "black" ones - I just think it looks good

Rob has now posted some more information HERE
