Noisy Electronics

I just picked up a used Status a couple of days ago. I sounded great through an amp at the store. At home I ran the bass directly into a direct jack in my mic pre amp into my DAW. All of the crackles and hums came alive to the point where the bass is unrecordable. It seems that the volume pot is scratchy and noisy but the tone pot is very noisy. The only way to quiet it down is to roll off all the treble. I am disappointed and wonder if this is an easy fix or is this not a good shoice for what I am trying to do. I have 30 days to return the bass. Are the electronics shot and need to be replaced? Thanks for the help.

What is the model and age of the bass? Some of the older pots on Statii haven't stood the test of time as well as the rest of the instrument. My S2000 has a slight crackle on the treble knob too.

The Eclipse 5 string i used to own had crackly pots(hearfd the new owner have gotten them changed), but unless you keep turning on them while playing i dont see what the problem should be..

Try changing the pots and see what happens. :)
