Hello All,

I'm potentially after a single pickup fretless 4 string.
lined or with fret position markers on the side of the fingerboard.
Must be headed.
Ideally natural wood finish.
Ideally in London so I can have a try:

Shark, Groove, Electro MK1 ( or any electro with only 1 pickup piezo or mag' but not both), Smart bass with Single pick up etc etc.

I don't mind if the bass started life as a fretted instrument that you've had de-fretted and I would consider a fretted variant to have de-fretted my self.

On a reasonably tight budget, but interested to see what's available.

Cheers,
Thomas

Welcome to the forum Thomas. If you are interested in an Electro don't be put off by the mag pup. It gives an added dimension to the sound. You don't have to use both at one time. I have both piezo and mag on my Electro. You get that lovely tight J bass sound from the mag and the pseudo acoustic tone from the piezo.

I know it's a five string but there is an Electro 1 on Ebay at the moment.

Hello BassBus.

Thank you for the welcome!

Yes I think you're right, I'm getting carried away with the path of absolute simplicity with the electro basses. It would be no bad thing to have the piezo and mag'.

I haven't played a 5 string for a long time, but I'll watch that ebay electro so cheers for the heads up there.
I suspect it will go for quite a bit.

You might be surprised. I paid £461 for mine. Mind you that is fretless, maybe not as desirable as a fretted.
