Hello! I've got my old S2000 some weeks ago and I like its action and sound... but I have a problem: when I play it with a strap the lower side of the body goes against my hip bone and it's just an hassle! I tried with short/long strap, holding ala Mark King but there's NO WAY to not have the body of the bass against my hip. The body is too large in that point I guess... and the side of the bass is edgy! :@
Another strange thing is that if I hold the bass under the armpit (as I love to do for slap stuff) I can reach the first frets only with a weird wrist stretch... and I'm 186cm with long arms and big hands! I think this bass' shape just isn't for me. Any similar experience or advices?
Hi Goth, actually my favorite is also my S2000 and I found that the best position is with a rather short strap (although not "a la" Mark King short) both for slap and finger playing.
Mind you the hip problem depends on the protuberance of your belly as well, doesn't it ;)
LOL! I've just tried in other different ways to strap the bass on... no way. The only position for it is with the neck slightly lower (sort of hand made neck dive, I guess...) but in this way I have to keep the body with my right arm to avoid contact with my hip bone. It's getting frustrating. :|
Maybe I should use a chainsaw to cut-off the lower bout of the body? ;)
There's no way I can play this bass standing, damn! The only way would be to play it ala Green Day... but I prefer to smash the bass against my rig rather than do it! :p
I tend to play my S2000 at maybe 60 degrees to the ground, so my hand is only ever about 30cm away and at shoulder height; body leaning on my right hip/front.

I had the same sort of thing with the S3000, as much as I loved the Bass I found the body bashed my hip or the top horn dug into my chest. I sold the s3000 because I don't have these problems with my kingbass and find it much more comfortable to play.

I'm really considering to get something with a different shape... the sound is great but the body shape isn't comfortable at all (at least for me). Strange but when I posted it for sale there was no taker. Did I buy it for too much money (a bit less than €1100.00)? It's in great conditions, perfect frets and electronics etc.
