hi can any one help??
I have a headless 5 string s2 classic bolt on neck but want to know if i could swap the neck to a headed one? has anyone evere done this?? will the bridge fit easy??? etc etc
I have tried to do a swap on here but no luck yet???
Not having done this, I would imagine the bridge might be a problem. The headed basses have 34 & 3/4 inches scale length, and the headless has 34". I think you would have to move the bridge, 3/4" towards the back end of the body, to get it to intonate properly, but even if you swap out the headless bridges for individual standard ones, i don't think you would have enough room at the back end of the bass to mount the bridges. They might hang over the edge.
There might however be other 5-string bridges available that will fit in that space.
If you could get a headed neck with 34" scale length it would be a straight swap. :)
Maybe mr. Green will make you one if you ask nicely ;)
As I said, I have never done this and I don't have all the measurements, and as always I could be wrong!

15 years agoPotentially it's technically possible, but probably the most economic and least risky approach is to sell/trade yours for a headed. The money you'll loose in doign that should be less or similar to a new neck...
