In over 40 years of buying, selling and trading basses I've never once felt the desire to repurchase any bass that I've owned. Many were spectacular, like a '62 Custom Color P Bass that I bought in '70 and hated, the bleeding of the CAR finish onto my stage clothes just pissed me off (I paid $75 for that bass). If only I knew then what I know now! I still have a couple of those ruined shirts stashed away somewhere.

That brings me to my 1996 Status-Graphite "Custom Shop", Limited Edition Eclipse, #41/100. I bought this bass new in 2001 from the old Trace Elliot distributor in Chicago , who lost it in their warehouse for 5 years, and sold it 6 years later, not because it wasn't a great bass but because it was just too pretty to gig with. I couldn't imagine putting the first nick or scratch on such a beautiful, rare, unique bass. It really freaked me out when I handled this bass. It was sold to a nice man in Connecticut named George, who treated her with the same respect that I did and now 4 years later I've convinced George to return her home. I picked her up this morning. She's in the same condition that I bought her new, incredible.
