If you are the first and only owner....for sure. Have you tried just tightening it up a bit? That way you will know if it is working. I don't know too much about any common faults on a Status as they are usually a good solid buy for reliability. Status may repair it under warranty if it is broken, ring them and ask Dawn, she will tell you if it's covered.

Hmmm, well then I would return it to see if the shop is willing to deal with it. If not then find a good luthier or ship it to Rob to fix. The rod may have broken in the middle, even though you say it tightens.
