If it helps, I have a Squire Jazz, which I got recently when I traded in a Peavey 5-string (which I hated) and bought a new amp. I was so surprised with how good it was for the money. I also have a Squire Tele. Also a very good, no frills guitar. Waaay better than you would expect for the money. OK, so when pick up the status after the Jazz, there is a difference, but my expectations were much lower when I tried it up in the shop. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. Haven't tired a real Fender to compare, but the action is pretty good and it has that very Jazz Bass sound.Responded in Fender Japan Basses?

Hi!Im thinking about buying a used fretless Fender Jazz Bass Special, made in Japan 1988.
Anyone who got any experience of this kind of basses, or Fender Japan basses overall? Would be nice to hear something about them. Ive heard some people claim they make the best Fender basses, and some say theyre just between Mexico and American (nowadays) series.

Big scoop! I just unearthed this photo of Steve at Floyd Rose in New Jersey. He looks a little worse for wear as he had just gotten off the flight from Heathrow and immediately ran to Floyd's. And I'll bet this is Steve's order; after all, why would he have somebody take his picture with it? ;-)
