I'm pretty sure that he was seen playing a Status in the 80s and this sounds a lot like an SII honk to me: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EMBbJ_...MBbJ_l0Tb4 John

I don't remember him using a Status (I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong) but he did use a Steinberger. He then changed to, ehm, 'scuse me, a Warwick (sorry for swearing). They made some great pop music in the 80s.

That is such a great track with a great bassline to boot! Smile

those 80s videos were fantastic, they used to have quite big budgets in the heyday of mtv, shot on film as well! anyhow i think he has a Steinberger in this vid as you can briefly see the top of the neck at 3.59, and the strap position at 2.50

A nice old one indeed with the open poles! Great band by the way, love their most recent album 'Everybody Loves a Happy Ending' and the live DVD 'Secret World Live in Paris'.

I used to speak with Roland at least once a week many years ago.... he was a massive Mac fan.... this was before I was ever introduced to Status so never thought to bring the subject up.... doh!

Curt Smith did use an S2. Check out the vid for the track "Shout " on youtube. If I remember, in the middle of the vid you get some close ups!! Wink

I remember seeing the "Shout" video and just salivating over that S2 shown at the bass breakdown in the vid back in the 80's. I should also say that "Head Over Heels" is one of the Top 5 songs that made me want to play bass. Still love that song... -j
