Thanks for the quick response. All the wires are intact and joints are fine, including the grey one. On putting in the jack plug, I noticed the connector was touching the black ring around the plug. Shouldn't it be touching the tip (live?) end to make the circuit? If so, I can see what Steve means about bending it back to make it touch this area. Attached are a couple of pics with the jack plug inserted. Thanks again, this really is helping (and I suspect saving me from a lot of stick from the drummer tomorrow night). Jack.
