As far as i can tell not a lot of difference, my 3000 is American Cherry, but it also came in Mahogany & Black Walnut. I think that chris (Status) had an energy for a short time that i had a go on, and as far as i could tell it was much the same bass but in Walnut. The electronics seemed the same vol/bal/tone. The tone control was as tilt, bass boost or top boost. I didnt get on with mine so replaced it with a obp-3 pre amp!
