Trade Bait 30th Anniversary Series II #14

Hello All,

Some of you may remember me from a long time ago on this forum. Unfortunately I went through a difficult time in my life and that was reflected in the way I acted on this forum. At that time I decided to turtle and avoid all things forum related and had my account deleted. For those that remember how I acted I truly apologize for my actions.

I had re-joined the forum several years ago with the same user name but just lurked on the sidelines looking around. Hopefully this will change things.

Now on to why I'm posting. Back in April 2013 I was fortunate enough to acquire #14 of 14 Series II 30th Anniversary bass from Rob. This is such an amazing creation but I have decided to let it move on to someone else to enjoy. My motivation for this is that I am on the lookout for a very good to excellent condition 4 string Wal Mk 1 or Mk 2. I am aware that these are very rare on the used market but now that #14 has been put up as trade bait I'm hoping one may become available.

As for #14 it is still in the same condition as I received it and everything I received will be included. This bass can still be viewed on the Status website so I feel there's little need to post a bunch of photos here. If an interested party comes along I can send a few photos of the bass as it is today.

I don't anticipate anything to happen quickly but I may eventually have to put #14 up for sale and keep a lookout for a Wal bass.

In the meantime here's #14 along with my S2-Classic and 5 string Stealth.

Thanks for looking.

Cheers,

John

Though I wouldn't have the finance to purchase your beautiful bass, I was doing some browsing the other day and came across this stunning 4 string WAL for sale at Bass Direct. I thought you might be interested (Link below).

They have a fretless as well by the way

I hope this helps :)

Thanks for the links. The fretless one has been there for a while and the fretted one must have just been listed. I have sent them an email requesting the export price to Canada.

Thanks Danny,

They are indeed still being made but the backlog is around 22 months once a deposit is paid.

Way back in 1986 when I lived in Edmonton there was a high end guitar shop that carried Wal and I remember it being a very nice playing bass with a weird eq setup. Unfortunately the sales people didn't understand the Wal filter eq system and I decided to buy a Kubicki eX-Factor instead. Still own the Kubicki. I fell in love with the filter eq system when I owned an Alembic Series II which is one bass I regret selling.

I am in Calgary, Canada.

Just for the sake of those who may be interested in buying #14 I will post my cash price here. The only other 30th Anniversary Series II I've seen second hand was at Bass Direct and it was #7 listed at £4750 and was sold.http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guit...rsary.html

Basically I want out of it what I paid for it less shipping, taxes etc... £4800 ($5960 US) would be my cash price on #14. This does not include shipping. I have a 75% discount on FedEx so shipping should not be an issue cost wise.

Cheers,

Looks like that Wal sold quick at Bass Direct. :|

I Have just posted this bass on eBay but am still open for trades for a Wal. Probably will take a while to find the right person who missed out on the initial sale of these basses.

Now off to Talk Bass and Bass Chat to get it some exposure.

Cheers,

John
