Polyurethane lacquer becomes shiny dull on certain spots

Both my Statii (Electro 2004 and Energy 1992) have the polyurethane lacquer.

This lacquer is originally not shiny but gets all shiny at the places where my skin frequently touches the body (no pun intended ;)) like above the pickup where my thumb rests, on the lower horn where my fist sometimes brushes the body while slapping and around the knobs. You can see this shininess/dullness at certain angles.

I polish them with a guitar polish, but to no avail –the spots stay!

Does anyone of you know how and with what I can polish these areas to their old luster?

I use Mr Sheen Original, not sure if they would have that in the Netherlands.

Hey Steve, thanks for your reply. Do you have the polyurethane lacquer on one of your instruments?

hi rologica,

I use a car-polishing set. My Statii have all polyurethane lacquer as coating. I got the set at Aldi or Lidl.
