Basically, what's best and safest?

I've heard all manner of "best stuff to", comments on this subject.

WD40 / 3 in1 oil / mineral oil / lemon oil / bog standard furniture polish etc. have all been commented on, but for every one who swears by one of these products, another will swear AT them, citing "damaging the finish!"

Help!.....I just want a nice shiny fingerboard to impress the crowd.

I'm a Kingbass owner, by the way. Figured walnut, black hardware, five strings, left handed and no LED's.

Marc Smith, Isle of Skye, Inner Hebrides, outer margins of nowhere.

WD40 - It's what Rob recommends. It won't make the fingerboard shine, but it'll make it jet black as it was new.
Status S2 5 String Fretless 'Moo-wood'
Status S1000 rebuild
Fender Strat - Fretted
Shadow Superstrat Guitar - Fretless
Ibanez RG Electric of some sort
Avalon As-101CE Electro-Acoustic Guitar

I've owned 5 Statii so far, with 2 at present....
