I'm interested about a Kingbass with 4 strings.
I have seen Mark King play with it but I never try it.

What's the differnce in the way of playing and the sound between a 34" model and a 32" one?
Is there a big difference between a 16,5 mm and 19 mm of space strings ?
How it sounds different between a combinaison rosewood/walnut and maple/alder ?

I'm a fingerstyle player, I don't slap very often. I play more Jazz and Blues and sometimes Pop/Rock.

Thanks for all the answers!
My Best Regards.

Hi Bruno, I have a 34" kingbass & love it. But the problem that some people have with the kingbass is its quite a reach to the end of the neck, even on the 32". As the Bass was designed for MK and you have to play it tucked up under your arm MK style. It also seem to sit with the neck pointing away from the body, you can also see this in the photo.

One thing.... those EQ settings he uses..... try doing that through your pre-amp and see how much gain reduction you need.... I got my kingbass pre-amp set to minimum output and it's still twice as loud as any other bass I have..... mind you 18v....

I have a rosewood/walnut Artist with 16.5mm string spacing and 32" scale with bendwell. Oh, and blue leds for dessert.

I have owned it for three months now and still get the same thrill playing it as I did the very first time I took it out of the case!

A friend of mine has the very same spec and is, by pure coincidence, the the preceeding bass to mine. The interesting thing is that they sound different. They both have the same Status Kingbass voice, but vary slightly in tone, even with all eq settings the same. One thing is for certain, though. These basses have a huge amount of punch and low frequency output, far more so than I had anticipated.

In terms of scale length, you would still believe the 32" was long scale. String tension, fret distances and overall neck length all feel like a 34", and the narrow string spacing feels natural immediately.

Wonderful......
