Hi everybody here at Statii.
My name is Hans from Holland, playing bass for more than over 25 years. Nowadays more playing with friends than in a band, but still a bass addict.
I played so many instruments in my active days, also had a S1 classic for some time which I (stupid!!) sold

Some months ago I walked into a very small music store, stacked with too many instruments for the space. In the corner I suddenly saw two Status basses, one I knew was called "Shark" the other one appeared to be a Energy, wooden neck, not graphite. They were not used, they were "brand new" there since 1994! I checked the serial, but it had faded due to the sun, the Status logo was also discolored to yellow. The battery was empty, the UBD of the battery was 1996. there was a card hanging on the tuners which said "Trace Elliot Strings" .
I bought it, polished the dirt and dust of, oiled the fretboard, new strings, adjusting it, fresh battery........BOOM what a sound!

Hi Hans,
Looks like a good find. It has the original one-piece neck.
The old Energy basses did have a great sound. That's got me thinking... Rob.

I had this Energy

The ash body and maple neck with twin graphite rods for extra strength was a work of art.....the tone was amazing....a lot less clinical than the graphite necks

Keep Thinking Rob and work your magic!!

May I also add that a 32" neck and 16.5mm string spacing would make this a winner for fast players and those with slower hands like me!!:D

Thanks for your great replies, I feel really welcome here.
And thanks Mr. Rob Green for your kind comment too!
The bass sounds really fantastic; I played a studio session with it, the sound engineer loved the sound.
He said that the sound was warm and had a nice ring to it that blended in with the music.
On the strap it`s perfectly balanced, lightweight.
Also "whisper" playing is so nice, you can sorta tell a story with it; every pop, tick, scratch, wipe, the slightest touch of the strings is translated into sound. It is all so nice with this bass!
