There is an interesting series 3000 for sale at the moment. Short notice I know but i'm interested and wondered if anyone had any comments about this in terms of sound, playability, etc and of course value (yes I know this sort of thing is hard to judge but...) Feedback much appreciated. Andy

I think Trev's main bass is a Series 3000 and he's very happy with it.
Though, its not with the status preamp.

Now I'm curious. I assume you mean an active circuit when you mention a preamp. Its not vital, i'm just curious but is there some sort of on/off system with the EQ?

I have a s3000 that i am about to sell! I have recently got a KingBass so the 3000 isnt getting played as much as it should.

It is much the same as the on on ebay, but the body is cherry & I have replaced the original pre amp with an OBP3. ( and no dings in the neck ;))
The original preamp had only bass boost or treble boost, I found this very limiting, so it now has a Bass / Treble & Mids. The obp can also be re wired for passive use.

I currently use a musicman Bong and stingray, both have midboosts on them but I dont use them, but then I am still experimenting having only been playing seriously for about 18 months (soul and swing!, not at the same time).

Yeah the tone control is great..... it gives you 'mellow High'!!!;)
