MKII sounds great! Told you Darren would put on a good one, looks like a lot of work went into it of which we will never know! Nice one Darren, didn't see the Jonas?? Was it the four batteries that put you off using it:D

Thanks for the comments everyone. We had a great time producing and performing the show. That vid clip, while showing off how cool the MKII sounds, is a little... er, 'fluffy' 'round the edges in playing terms! :) Technical glitches were due to Logic crashing... something that luckily only happened during the one track. We were into the encores at that point, which is just as well... since the audience was in merry mood.

Thomas himself joined us for one track... and beat the hell out of the drum machine... very cool.

It was a great night... the audience response was amazing. Thanks to Trev, Andre and Fran for coming along to support us! Sorry you couldn't be there Todd (totally understandable), it would have been great to see you.. it certainly wasn't the same without you. Maybe next time?

I'd had a problem with the Jonas a couple of days before the gig, which Rob and Dawn kindly (and in true, professional, Status style!) sorted (thanks a million, guys!). However during sound checks, we found the output was much lower than either my Series II or the MKII and there was a strange hissing. I'll be taking it back down to the factory at some point to find out what can be done.

All in all a wonderful experience.

And to top it all off, I played with Thomas the very next night at his gig, at the Union Chapel. Mental!

Darren.

It was actually a re-creation of the MIDI kit that Thomas used on his 1983 LiveWireless Tour. The pads are supposd to trigger light and sound but we had er, some technical issues with it. Thomas ended up bashing the hell out of the thing with those tiny mallets. The pads came off and the wires detached.. all great fun!

Yeah... was a great night! Such a buzz to play with Thomas and his band. He's been a big influence since I bought the 'Golden Age of Wireless' album when I was 14. It's quite a thing to play with one of your musical heroes!

There are a few photos of the gig dotted here and there... here are some from Andy Sheppard (The first three pages):

And if you check out the 'Thomas Dolby' and 'Tour Talk' threads on the Flat Earth forum (various sub threads):
