Och, now you're just showing off Rich. Three brand new Statii in one year. I thought there was a recession on. I'm sure you won't have time to play your fretless so you can give that to me.:@

Yup, that's why I was embarrassed to mention it! I hadn't bought any bass gear for over 15 years so I'd got some catching up to do, plus if I'm going to have a mid life crisis I might as well do it properly. :D

I really like the idea of adding a headless to my collection and a graphite skin one could be the next (I'm between that and a dark cocobolo top...)... the one of Chris is apparently not a all graphite S2 but a "normal" S2 with a graphite skin. It's an option that apparently can be requested to Rob! :D

It's an alder body with a graphite shell and it costs the same as a standard S2 classic - guess I should own up and say that I've ordered one. Mine'll be a headed 5 stringer though, hopefully ready November / December time ;)

() Congrats Rich! I'm seriously thinking of a S2 5 string headless with graphite skin and all black hardware. My favorite mahogany plus walnut tone block and maybe, maybe blue wrap-around LEDs... now your news is increasing my GAS even more! ....

Anyway.... bow back to Chris and Muse, I hijacked this thread enough ;)

Chris used what looks to be all-graphite S2 with headstock on several songs during their Glastonbury set including the track below.

I watched the whole awesome show on TV last night and the graphite weave on the front face was clearly visible at times.

And very pleased to see the new bass featuring prominently at Glasto! It's been used for the majority of the songs, plus the old S2 for more than one as well, and then a Stealth appears. Looks like a Status takeover for Chris, which should be great business for Rob - just look what Matt has done singlehandedly for Manson!

Thought I saw some kind of Kingbass too.

Thought the all graphite bass was a Stealth but on closer inspection it has the chamfers of an S2... could this be the all graphite S2 Classic we've been waiting for?!

Edit: From the Status website:

"Chris now has FOUR Status Basses including the early 80's headless Series-2.
( Original Series-2 - KingBass Mk II - S2-Classic Walnut - S2-Classic Graphite )"

That ain't no Stealth. Looks more like an all graphite S2. Is this one of the fabled new models for next year, a Series 2000 reissue? :o

Wow, this for me is a great compliment for a bassist and a true definition of a good band.... the sum is greater than individual parts... and why would you ever want to isolate any track / player from the rest? it's a band! well said

If you simply isolate his playing, I do not find it very inspiring. His playing is pretty simple and reptitive. However, it fits very well within the band's sound and presentation. A good example of the sum of the parts being greater than the individual.

BTW, a contributor on TalkBass has transcribed a lot of his parts. You can find them here: http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showthread.php?t=573285

Well said. I think he is a good player but I'm not a big fan of effects on bass. However, that is why Muse are where they are because they have moved things on. They don't rest on their Laurels and their music has developed through the years. I didn't really like their last record much but was a big fan of everything up to Black Holes and Revelations. It's a bit like that other band everyone on here likes. You know the one, their name escapes me. Everyone loves the early stuff but not so keen on the later productions.

I thought their last album was good, but for me Black Holes and Revelations was such a corker it was always going to be difficult to follow up.
