Have a listen to the cock-up at 0:56

It's good to hear that it can happen to the best of them!

I have a solution: give it to me. No more embarrassment and frankly - any bass would sound like that given the amount of processing its received. :)

Some people just have no taste whatsoever. Firstly he puts a magnificent sounding SII through a load of pointless effects, then decrys the looks of it.

For my money, the SII is one of the best looking basses out there. Period.

It will be interesting to see how nice the new Status looks that Mr Green took up to where ever it was again that Muse were playing the other week.

A headed model I believe........

And here it is!

I just want to point out that I am in no way a fan of Muse - just a Status bass enthusiast. And that S2 he is playing looks fantastic :)

Like Mark King, he's another drummer turned bass player, I reckon Status are going to get a tidal wave of orders because of Muse.

I am a Status fan and my S2 is a dream come true... jsut yesterday the last gig and got again an other couple of good feedack on my sound.

I'm also a big Muse fan, I discovered them late, after I got my S2... seeing an S2 in the hands of Chris, of course puts a little smile on my face.

Despite of the wise judgements that some have about Chris, I think he's a very solid player, that he's pushing bass into a different dimension (you might like or not, but I think we can't argue that his extreme use of effects is different than usual) and of course, muse is a blockbuster. Net, I think that he deserves a lot of respect, the same respect I give to all the bassplayers in this community or outside.

Well said. I think he is a good player but I'm not a big fan of effects on bass. However, that is why Muse are where they are because they have moved things on. They don't rest on their Laurels and their music has developed through the years. I didn't really like their last record much but was a big fan of everything up to Black Holes and Revelations. It's a bit like that other band everyone on here likes. You know the one, their name escapes me. Everyone loves the early stuff but not so keen on the later productions.

Muse fan or not, its nice to see an actual band having success rather than RAP "artists" using recycled loops with unintelligable bad poems talked over them.

I thought their last album was good, but for me Black Holes and Revelations was such a corker it was always going to be difficult to follow up.

If you simply isolate his playing, I do not find it very inspiring. His playing is pretty simple and reptitive. However, it fits very well within the band's sound and presentation. A good example of the sum of the parts being greater than the individual.

BTW, a contributor on TalkBass has transcribed a lot of his parts. You can find them here: http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showthread.php?t=573285
Cherry Red 5-String Fretted Streamline, 16.5 mm string spacing, half-wound strings strung EADGC

Wow, this for me is a great compliment for a bassist and a true definition of a good band.... the sum is greater than individual parts... and why would you ever want to isolate any track / player from the rest? it's a band! well said

And very pleased to see the new bass featuring prominently at Glasto! It's been used for the majority of the songs, plus the old S2 for more than one as well, and then a Stealth appears. Looks like a Status takeover for Chris, which should be great business for Rob - just look what Matt has done singlehandedly for Manson!

That ain't no Stealth. Looks more like an all graphite S2. Is this one of the fabled new models for next year, a Series 2000 reissue? :o

Thought I saw some kind of Kingbass too.

Thought the all graphite bass was a Stealth but on closer inspection it has the chamfers of an S2... could this be the all graphite S2 Classic we've been waiting for?!

Edit: From the Status website:

"Chris now has FOUR Status Basses including the early 80's headless Series-2.
( Original Series-2 - KingBass Mk II - S2-Classic Walnut - S2-Classic Graphite )"
