Nope, status pickups aren't passive. Some older models (series 2000 and the like) have a switch for active/passive, but its just active pickups running without the batteries on. I think that the basses made after GMT pickups operate on active all the time, however some of the more Statii-experienced members here will probably tell me otherwise :D
Status S2 5 String Fretless 'Moo-wood'
Status S1000 rebuild
Fender Strat - Fretted
Shadow Superstrat Guitar - Fretless
Ibanez RG Electric of some sort
Avalon As-101CE Electro-Acoustic Guitar

I've owned 5 Statii so far, with 2 at present....

As Steve said... i'm 99.9% sure they have always been 'Active' (passive if switched off)!

Best thing to do is have a read through the 'Catalogue' section... you will find descriptions of all the pickups and electronics over the years... for the more modern ones just go here....

http://www.status-graphite.com/status/carts3/frames/frame1.htm

and look under 'on-line shop' and then 'Status pickups'!

should give you all the info you need!!

Cheers makes sense now. The word HyperActive is just a bit confusing I guess.
