Hi!

Just sold my warwick custom yesterday for 2'000 Euros :), so now it's just a question of weeks for me to place my new order :

S2 Classic Neck-thru 4 strings
- Headed (i know :p, but ive got already 2 headless...)
- Nice book-matched quilted or flamed maple top (Something really pronounced)
- Transparent Royal Blue Color, not greenisch
- High gloss finish
- Mahogany back
- Alder center block (really discrete)
- Black veener
- Black hardware
- Mono-rail bridge unit
- Standard 19mm String-spacing

What do you think about it ? Any suggestions, ...?

Regards,
Marco

Sounds great!!

APART FROM THE HEAD!! :o

I would definitely go for quilted maple if you're going to put a colour into it... I think they look better than other woods.

Good luck... Get ordering!

I am not sure I understand the choice of the Alder center block. IMO alder makes sense for the wheight but with only the centre section, it doesn't make too much difference. If you don't like the centre section visible, you can ask Rob to cover the front with the wood top. You can see the result here:

I really like everything else. I would probably go for a 34" scale instead of 34.75" but it is very much a personal thing.

Custom Shop from 2004, quite never played because of the neck...awfully large

Yeah, exactly, i wasn't sure about that, but i will specify to cover the front with the wood top! Thanks!

Well if i've choose to take it headed is for one reason :
The shape!! If you look at every headless S2 (exception for the 6 strings), you can see that the shape of the body is different (the table cover all the shape, with "less" curve). I've no problem with it and i'm quite sure that rob could even take a "curved" shape and put some headless neck on it but...well those are just details...B)

If you cover the centre section with the top wood, I would recommend the default woods (walnut centre + mahogany wings) for a killer tone. Alternatively, you can go for a full mahogany body as I did - it sounds great.

Have you thought about a 34” scale? For a 4 strings, 34.75” doesn’t make too much sense and the bass is just more difficult to play (bigger frets). Moreover, if you play slap a lot, the extra tension doesn't help.

Yes, ok i think i'll consider to take the default configuration! I've already the same on my two s2 and it sound killer! For the scale, i feel realy good on my two 6 string, and i just noticed that they are 34'' so i think i'll take it 34'' thanks for your help ;)

What do you guys think about that :

headless :

Did anyone noticed the difference? It is an option or...? It seem to be the difference between headed and headless but...

My headless S2-Classic 6 string has the rounder curves to her instead of the more angular ones. I am sure, when specified on your order, Rob will accomodate the request.
For Status, all headed basses are 34.75 inch scale & all headless basses are 34 inch's.

Exactly, these are the production defaults.

However, it is possible to order a headed 34".

Wow, I have never thought of asking Rob about this option. Next time I place an order, I will specify the shorter scale for my headed basses.

Thanks,
Don.

Hi Rob,
How are you?

This is Marco from Switzerland (I’ve ordered two S-2 6 strings some years ago, do you remember me?)! Well, it’s been a while ;-)

First of all, I must thank you so much for these bass you have done for me. They’re so amazing, perfect tone, perfect balance. Well, I can’t play on any other basses now, what have you done to me ;-)?! I’m a true Status-Graphite addicted right now and it’s time for me to place a new order that will (I hope) change my life!

You know, in the past years, I’ve done many gigs (just ~200 gigs these two last years), many recordings, played with many musicians(as a pro since january 2007) and I’m just 21. It’s like I’m just at the beginning of everything and now I need THE killer 4 string to be my main bass for the rest of my life. Your basses are exactly what I need! I just don’t need to look around for everything else…and I've tried/bought/sold back so many low-end basses.
Status basses are deep in my hearth since the first day i've tried one from Andre, trully. It's like a virus, you don't even mind how much time i've thought about the order that i'm doing right now...

Here is what I’m thinking about since 3 years now :

S2 Classic Neck-thru 4 strings
- Headed
- Nice book-matched Quilted maple top (Something really pronounced, even with the color, what have you got in stock?)
- Transparent Royal Blue Color, not greenisch
- rounder curves for the body
- High gloss finish
- Mahogany back
- Walnut center block, but covered with the wood top
- Black veener
- 34" (864mm) scale fingerboard
- Black hardware (without these 3 plastic knob, but the hard one)
- Mono-rail bridge unit
- Standard 19mm String-spacing

I think that I’ve specified everything, let me know if you’ve got something to add/modify that can make the bass look better…

If you can tell me how much will this project cost (whitout TVA as I live in Switzerland...) , it would be great, I think I'll do the payement in one time...

Regards,
Marco

You practically described the bass I would really like to order if I had the money (although it would be probably 5 strings). :)

The only difference is that I would order it without veener.

I can't wait to see the photos!
