That so right Paul,A good band with a poor drummer, suffers...
A poor band with a good drummer, sounds better...
A good band with a good drummer, excellent...
Don.

Re: Keyboard Dep required June 6th
The best thing about drummers is they are never sensitive about jokes about drummers - they suffer them continuously, like mine above. However, I have to say a decent drummer is the hardest thing to find in the musical world, so they deserve a bit more respect. Any competent bass player/guitarist/singer/keyboardist can get by in a band, but every band needs a GOOD drummer to sound tight. In all my time playing, the weak link in every band has always been the drummer. When I get to play with a decent one (who tend to be the humble ones who just get on with locking in with the song, rather than the fancy fill merchants and stick spinners) it increases my enjoyment of the session exponentially.
Decent drummers, I salute you!

Re: Keyboard Dep required June 6th
Good for you RetroronIn my experience with drummers, I consider them as much a musician than any other musician playing any given instrument.
Drummers are musicians
Good musician drummer composers, to name a few :
Bill Bruford,
Billy Cobham
Steve Smith
Gary Husband
Kurk Covington
Pierre Meorlen R.I.P.
ect,ect....

" MOGE " ?? That's just as bad as pronouncing Paiste cymbals as PAISTEY !! Whoever told you Moog was pronounced Moge is having a laugh!!
It was Bob Moog - the guy who invented it: he said he hated it being mis-pronounced Mooog. Not to me personally: it was on TV, can't remember which show - one of those 100 best things. Here is the Wikipedia ref though:
"Dr. Robert Arthur Moog pronounced moUg/ to rhyme with "rogue"
So I can assure you the correct pronunciation IS Moge.
Oh and the cymbals are pronounced Pie-stee. Wikipedia ref for that:
"Paiste is an Estonian/Finnish word which means "shine". The company's website indicates that "the correct pronunciation for 'Paiste' is 'Pie-stee', or as Mario Calire of Ozomatli says, 'It rhymes with feisty'!".
And........the correst pronounciation is Staa-tus, NOT Stay-tus when you are in Canada!!
