Re: lefty 5 string
It looks beautiful! And its a lefty! Congratulations!

I have recently been discussing specs for a new bass with Rob. At first I was dead set on a lefty King Bass MkII 5 string fretless Black Beauty. But before I pulled the trigger a colleague of mine let me play his 5 string fretless Music Man Stingray. It was the first time I've played a 5 and it was very difficult and frustrating and I kept getting lost. It felt really....odd. (A pun! Get it!??!! Bwah hah hahahahahaha!!!Shock) Just last week I was able to noodle around with a Carvin AC50 5 string fretless semi hollow bass at the Carvin Store in Santa Ana and it was similarly frustrating and confusing to play. So I have come to the conclusion that 5 stringers are not for me, only 4 or 6 stringers. So now that I have decided to go with a 4 string King Bass MkII my only problem is selecting all the extras. Recently Rob has posted so many new and exciting options that its all of a sudden become very difficult to decide what to do.

Re: Lefty S2
Yes very happy with the bass i mainly play warwick but the Thick neck can make it hard to play fast

But on the status its very easy
I still love warwicks but will be keeping the status

Re: Lefty S2
Lovely bass!

Could be a burr maple with some amber tint on it.... Or something like the Madrone that Rich mentioned!

You must be chuffed though!!

It looks too dark for maple, it's a similar colour and grain to my burr Madrone S2 fretless.

Very tasty bass, congratulations!

Re: New lefty Status owner
Thanks for the welcome Fat Rich. I tried to play right handed at the start, because left-handed basses were as rare as hens teeth in the early sixties. But I gave up in the end and converted my Futurama to lefty. At the time my Futurama cost £15 (second hand) and a Fender P-Bass was 94 guineas new for a right handed and 10% more for a lefty - way out of my league.

Cheers.

Re: New lefty Status owner
Welcome to the forum!

I'm a fellow lefty but I've always played right hand basses...

At least Status don't charge extra for left hand instruments so that'll help when you want to get another bass, they're very addictive by the way Wink

Re: New lefty Status owner
Hi Guys

I just bought MrQ's S2-Classic from him today. My first Status and my first 5-string Grin

I've been playing bass (badly) on and off since 1962. Nice to see that lefties have their own corner of this forum!
