I was thinking to go there too but I decided to go to NYC only, due to previous plans ( not true, I'm broke )

I saw the boys in a small, intimate club in Annapolis, Maryland last night called the Rams Head Inn. THEY KILLED!!!! The "highlight of the night"....... every single tune. Only a 90 minute show, the audience was maniacal all night and could have taken 3 hours. Well worth the 400 mile trip!

I was a bit surprised with MK's rig last night. An Ashdown gold faced "30th Anniversary L42" MK, a red faced MK AND a Markbass head sitting up top! Anyone know what that's about?

I know the Markbass head is used (normally as a backup) for tours outside the UK only due to its reduced weight compared to the Ashdown heads. I am surprised to hear that MK has all the available heads on this US tour...

Are you allowed to bring a camera during the show?
I remember in Germany the rule was "no camera allowed" and I was the only one without it!!!

I can relate to that, when I saw them at O2 in London I was paranoid about sneaking in my pocket cam, but when I got there I noticed a few people with full-blown SLR's! |

Hi Ken, glad you enjoyed the show !
Understand that the gold plated 30th Anniversary Ashdown amps have been sold to customers with a delivery by MK himself so maybe that's why you saw him playing it ?
I officially quit smoking on August 3rd 2009 ... As long as this message is here, I am smokeless !! |

That's good to know, thanks Todd.

There is a strict "no cameras" rule at most locations over here including the Rams Head. That said, here's Wednesday night performance in Annapolis!!!! This is THE first L42 show in North America in 22 years.

BTW, I was REALLY looking forward to hearing Gary Husband on drums but he isn't on this tour (at least not this leg). Pete Ray Biggin, whom I had never heard of (my bad!), was incredible. Powerful, restrained when proper and chops beyond his years. How could you not love doing this for a living?

BTW guys..... I'm an "old guy", who traveled on 3 buses, a major airline, 2 regional buses and then my daughters car, to see this show. It truthfully was a 3 day excursion to see L42 live with my daughter in Annapolis. The show was SIMPLY INCREDIBLE! My daughter, now 32, shared with me afterwords.... "I always knew that you (my Dad) had great taste in bands, but this was just unbelievable". She is my "Hip-Hop" kid and she LOVED the show!!!! Hopefully, MK will "feel the love", which was incredible, and try an expanded tour soon in the US. If not...... we saw their best! KWS

Now that's commitment. I did the UK equivalent of traveling to a dump of a leisure centre in Peterborough when I was 18 to see them!
Too many basses is never enough basses. |

Ken, there was a poster up at the Keswick theater in Philly for a John McLaughlin show on (I think) Nov. 12th. Gary Husband is on the bill...not sure if he'll be drumming or playing keys though (Personally I like Gary's keyboard playing more than his drumming, but that's just personal preference). You might want to look into that a bit further. Either way that would be a killer show! Wish they would come down to Texas.

Yeah, I see that McLaughlin & 4th Dimension is touring in November and December. GH is basically the keyboard player in this lineup, which isn't a bad thing! McLaughlin usually swings through The Egg (possibly the most unique venue in North America) here in Albany when he tours. He was here in the Spring but unfortunately he's not on the calendar at this point. I'll be on the lookout!

I caught their show at The Birchmere in Alexandria. Top stuff indeed.
Here's a pic I took on my phone:
