ive only ever found 1 to be playable. the build quality is awful for the cost. i returned a series 2 to them....never again. they just live on a reputation
Well that's ridiculous, my Alembic plays like a dream, as does Moos and the three other Alembics that have crossed my path over the years (2 MKs and SC deluxe) have all played superbly.
Beanys S2 was fantastic, and i've tried a Dragon Wing, S1 and S2 in the same shop and they were all great.
The build quality on every Alembic i have seen is second to none and that's a fact. Admittedly all my experience is on the top end of the scale so i can't speak for the other models, but i think you're Series 2 problem was an exception rather than the norm.
I find it quite rude that someone would post their negative personal opinions about a brand of instrument in a thread where someone is trying to sell a bass.
You have a problem with Alembic? Post a new thread. Don't crap on someone else's thread.
I am in the VERY fortunate position where I own the original and first Alembic Dragon's Wing (complete with the Chinese Dragon fretboard inlay), along with a Buzzard B1 and also a Buzzard B1 8-string - so I feel I'm qualified to speak on this subject!
Whilst the neck on my DW has been temperamental it has now settled down. That aside, the instrument is beautifully built, certainly on a par with my Status basses.
My Dragon's Wing has a certain sound, appearance and style all of its own and whilst it was a real problem to live with in the first few years, now I will NOT part with it.
As Oliver is now selling his and as I know the current price of a new DW from Alembic - don't pass THIS opportunity up if you are interested!
